Welcome to SailingNW!
My goal is to provide informational videos to boaters of all kinds who are interested in boating in the Pacific Northwest. I’m starting out with a series of destination videos in the San Juans and hope they will be helpful to boaters to give them an idea of what each place is really like, any hazards to be aware of, and what the anchorage is like, where to pull out in your dinghy or kayak, and what to do once you arrive. Though I have a sailboat, my intent is to make this useful for all boaters. In the future I want to branch out and produce videos on a range of boating topics.
For over 20 years I have wanted to combine my passion for boating and my interest in video production. I’m finally doing it! I never intended to be the “talent” though, but decided to go ahead and produce these videos anyway. It has been a challenge to be producer, director, scriptwriter, camera operator, lighting, and talent all at the same time.
But because I am relatively new to boating, I don’t want all of the information to come from me. I am developing this blog site so that everyone can contribute information and have it become a valuable resource to others. I will be updating the look and feel of the site very soon.
Please add your comments about the locations, any hazards you may have encountered, what you like about the destination, good spots for crabbing, whatever!
In the long run my hope is to get sponsors so that I can afford to bring a crew and travel to other locations in the San Juans, Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, etc. and make this into an even greater resource.
So please join in and contribute your experience and knowledge!
